Looking for “Small Town America”?

You need look no further than Bonners Ferry, Idaho the county seat of Boundary County, voted the “Friendliest town in Idaho”, in 2003. There you will find that unique blend of individual integrity and independence with a help-your-neighbor spirit that is the best of small town America. As a trade center for an area extending into Canada and western Montana, Bonners Ferry Idaho is a city of small businesses.

Bonners Ferry, Idaho itself is located in the middle of the broad and fertile Kootenai River Valley. The population of Boundary County is about twelve thousand – less than half living in Bonners Ferry. The area climate is pleasant, healthful, and invigorating with temperatures seldom exceeding ninety degrees in summer and rarely falling below zero in winter for any length of time.

Community services include Bonners Ferry High School, Boundary County Junior High School, four elementary schools, kindergartens and day care. We have a library, the historical Bonners Ferry Museum, and several art galleries. Our community is home to Boundary Community Hospital with a heliport, several medical facilities, and a retirement condominium. Recreation facilities include Mirror Lake Golf Course, a municipal swimming pool, bowling alley, park, tennis courts and picnic areas.

With 2 rivers and 54 lakes Bonners Ferry and Boundary County have some of the best fishing in this part of the country. The major portion of land in the county is Public or Forest Service land where you can spend hours watching the abundant wildlife while enjoying the beautiful mountain views, picking huckleberries, or having a picnic beside one of the refreshing creeks. These are just of few of the reasons that we can’t think of a better place to call home.
